Title:               Director, Marketing & Communications

 

 

Definition of Position:

 

This management position is responsible for overseeing every aspect of the JCC’s marketing communications efforts.  The Director supervises the Marketing Department in crafting a positive image and awareness of the JCC utilizing all disciplines including, but not limited to advertising, branding, direct response, integrated marketing communications, media and public relations.  The Director works under the supervision of the Executive Director.

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Related Tasks:

 

         I.      Strategic Planning (15%)

 

1.            Analyze previous year’s marketing efforts in order to effectively monitor successes and learn from missed opportunities.

2.            Develop annual marketing communications plan in order to proactively lead the JCC in an aggressive and strategic way.

3.            Comprise and maintain a departmental budget allocation in order to maintain sound fiscal responsibility.

4.            Integrate specific marketing tactics into the overall Plan in order to parallel and achieve stated program and event objectives.

5.            Assist other departments’ marketing and communications needs in order to properly manage workflow and efficiencies.

 

II.   Marketing JCC/Implementation (40%)

 

6.            Develop Brand Guidelines in order to ensure message consistency and continuity among all constituencies.

7.            Develop and implement internal workflow processes and procedures.

8.            Craft an ongoing brand awareness strategy in order to educate, inform and inspire.

9.            Develop Brand Campaign creative in order to assist in meeting revenue projections.

10.       Create an Annual Report that documents and summarizes the year’s successes.


III.     Coordination (30%)

 

11.       Supervise and manage staff activities in order to maintain and instill a “team-based” approach.

12.       Participate actively in departmental and all-staff meetings in order to coordinate efforts within and between departments.

13.       Monitor interdepartmental communications efforts in order to instill continuous quality control.

14.       Maintain consistent communication with Executive Team.

15.       Empower staff in order to evolve their individual skills and hands on experiences.

16.       Work collaboratively with the JCC IT director on the JCC website initiative in order to properly position it as a viable communications tool.

 

IV. Lay Leadership/Committee Involvement (10%)

 

17.    Cultivate lay leadership involvement via Marketing Committee comprising of a Chair and minimum of six (6) laypeople in order to receive ongoing guidance and counsel.

18.    Plan bi-monthly Committee meetings in order to foster lay leadership support and teamwork.

19.    Provide updates regarding marketing efforts in order to inform and motivate Committee.

20.       Coordinate follow-up of meetings (minutes, reminder calls and letters, and reports) in order to maintain effective communications.

21.       Maintain correspondence with lay leaders (birthdays, wedding anniversaries, illness, etc.) in order to enhance lay-professional relationship building.

 

V.  Administration (5%)

 

22.    Provide all pertinent administrative reports (expense, leave, check requests, supply order, etc.) as detailed in the JCC Employee Manual.

23.    Review and approve similar reports from department’s professional and support staff as required.

24.       Authorize staff requests for vacation, sick and personal leave.

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

The minimum education and experience requirement for this key management position is a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and ten years of marketing communications experience.  An educational or experiential background in Judaica is beneficial.  This position requires skills in effective written and verbal communications, relationship building, excellent organizational skills and leadership.
